What does the favicon generator do?
A favicon is the small icon that appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, phone home screens and next to your site in Google's mobile search results. A missing or blurry favicon makes a site look unfinished, and it's one of the details visitors notice even if they can't say why.
Different devices need different sizes: 16 and 32 pixels for browser tabs, 48 pixels for Windows and Google search, 180 pixels for the Apple touch icon when someone adds your site to an iPhone home screen, and 192 and 512 pixels for Android and installable web apps. This generator produces all of them from one image, plus a multi-size favicon.ico file for older browsers.
You also get a site.webmanifest file with your site name and theme colour, and a ready-made block of HTML to paste into your page head. Add optional padding if your logo touches the edges, and choose a solid background if your icon is transparent and hard to see on dark browser tabs.
Using the Favicon Generator for your business
A favicon shows next to your site name in Google's mobile results, so a clear one helps people pick your listing. The bigger win is ranking in those results in the first place: our small business SEO service gives you a focused plan to rank for the services you sell, in the places you sell them.
How to use the Favicon Generator
- Upload a square image. PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP. 512 × 512 pixels or larger works best.
- Adjust padding and background. Add space around the logo or a solid background colour if needed.
- Enter your site name and theme colour. These go into the web manifest for Android and installable apps.
- Click Generate favicons. All sizes are created at once.
- Upload the files and paste the code. Put the files in your site's root folder and paste the HTML into the head section.

Tips for a favicon that looks good in Google
Keep it simple. At 16 pixels, detailed logos turn into a blur. Use your logo mark or first letter rather than the full wordmark, with strong contrast.
Google shows favicons next to search results on mobile. Its guidelines say the favicon should be square, a multiple of 48 × 48 pixels, visually represent your brand, and be crawlable, which means your robots.txt mustn't block the favicon file or your home page.
After uploading, it can take Google days or weeks to show a new favicon in search results. Browsers cache favicons aggressively too, so test in a private window if you don't see the change straight away.
On WordPress you can skip the manual steps: go to Appearance, Customize, Site Identity and upload a 512 × 512 Site Icon. WordPress then generates the sizes itself.
Is it safe to upload my files?
Your files are processed on our own server, not sent to any third-party service, and are deleted automatically 30 minutes after processing. We strip location data from photos when converting them, and we never use your files for anything else.
Frequently asked questions
What size should a favicon be?
Provide several: 16, 32 and 48 px for browsers, 180 px for Apple devices, and 192 and 512 px for Android. This tool creates all of them.
Do I still need favicon.ico?
It's still useful for older browsers and some tools that look for /favicon.ico automatically, so we include it.
Where do I upload the favicon files?
Upload them to the root folder of your website (the same place as your home page), then paste the HTML code into the head section.
Why isn't my new favicon showing?
Browsers cache favicons. Try a private window or clear the cache. Google may take a while to update search results.
Can I use an SVG logo?
Yes. SVG gives the sharpest results at every size.
