What does the WebP to JPG converter do?
WebP is an image format Google introduced in 2010 to make web pages lighter. Websites love it because a WebP photo is usually 25–35% smaller than the same JPG. The problem starts when you save one of those images: older versions of Photoshop, many print shops, some email clients, government portals and plenty of upload forms still refuse WebP files.
This tool reads the actual image data inside your WebP file and saves it again as a standard JPG or PNG. Choose JPG for photos when you want a small file that works everywhere. Choose PNG when the image has a transparent background, such as a logo or a product cut-out, because JPG cannot store transparency. If you pick JPG for a transparent image, you can choose the colour that fills the transparent areas so the edges don't turn black.
We check the file contents rather than the extension, so a JPG that has been renamed to .webp is caught and you get a clear message instead of a broken download. Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame.
Using the WebP to JPG / PNG Converter for your business
WebP is great for websites but awkward everywhere else. If your site serves WebP and some images still look blurry or load slowly, the image setup needs a proper review. Our technical SEO audit checks image formats, sizes and caching across your templates so pages stay fast for visitors and Google.
How to use the WebP to JPG / PNG Converter
- Add your WebP files. Click the upload box, drag files onto it or paste an image with Ctrl+V. You can add up to 10 files of 10 MB each.
- Pick JPG or PNG. JPG is best for photos and the smallest files. PNG keeps transparent backgrounds and sharp edges.
- Set the quality (JPG only). 90 keeps photos looking the same as the original. Lower it if you need a smaller file.
- Click Convert. Your files are converted on our server in a few seconds while the progress bar shows where things are.
- Download. Preview each image, download them one at a time or grab everything in a single ZIP file.

JPG or PNG: which should you choose?
Choose JPG for photographs, screenshots of photos and anything you plan to email, print or upload to a form with a size limit. JPG uses lossy compression, which means it throws away detail the eye barely notices. At quality 85–90 the difference is invisible for most photos and the file stays small.
Choose PNG for logos, icons, diagrams, screenshots with text and any image with a transparent background. PNG is lossless, so every pixel is kept exactly, but files are larger, often three to five times the size of a JPG for a photo. If the PNG is too big for an upload limit, run it through our image compressor afterwards.
Running a website? Keep WebP on your site and only convert copies for the places that need JPG. WebP helps your pages load faster, which is good for visitors and for Google's Core Web Vitals.
Is it safe to upload my files?
Your files are processed on our own server, not sent to any third-party service, and are deleted automatically 30 minutes after processing. We strip location data from photos when converting them, and we never use your files for anything else.
Frequently asked questions
Will converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?
Very slightly at most. At quality 90 the difference isn't visible on normal photos. If you need a perfect copy, choose PNG, which is lossless.
Why won't my computer open WebP files?
Older software and some apps were built before WebP was common. Converting to JPG or PNG solves it without installing anything.
Can I convert several WebP images at once?
Yes. Add up to 10 files (10 MB each) and download them all as a ZIP.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG keeps them. JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default).
Is this WebP converter really free?
Yes. There's no watermark, no account and no daily limit for normal use. We ask for your email once so we can keep the tools free.
