What does the meta tag checker do?
Meta tags are the lines of HTML in a page's head that tell search engines and social networks what the page is about. The title tag and meta description shape how your page looks in Google. Open Graph and Twitter card tags control the title, text and image people see when your link is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack or X.
In Check mode, the tool fetches the page and reviews every important tag: title length, meta description length, whether there is exactly one H1, the canonical URL, robots directives (including an accidental noindex), the mobile viewport, the language attribute, structured data types and hreflang. Each item gets a clear status and a note explaining what to fix. You also see a Google-style preview of how the result might appear, and a block of suggested tags to copy.
In Generate mode, type your title, description, URL and share image and get clean, correctly escaped HTML for the standard tags, Open Graph and Twitter cards, ready to paste into your template or SEO plugin.
Using the Meta Tag Checker & Generator for your business
Meta titles and descriptions decide whether people click your result, but they're only one part of ranking. Our SEO services fix titles across your whole site, plan content around the searches that bring buyers and track rankings and leads every month. For service businesses, our local SEO service does the same for map results.
How to use the Meta Tag Checker & Generator
- Choose Check or Generate. Check audits an existing page; Generate creates new tags.
- Enter the page URL or your details. Paste the full URL, or fill in title, description, URL and share image.
- Click the button. We fetch and analyse the page, or build the tags.
- Review the results. Green items are fine, amber need attention and red are problems.
- Copy the suggested tags. Paste them into your page head or SEO plugin, then check again.

Best practice for titles and descriptions
Titles: Google cuts titles at roughly 600 pixels, which is about 50–60 characters. Put the main topic first, make every page's title unique, and add your brand at the end if there's room. Google sometimes rewrites titles it thinks don't describe the page, so keep them accurate rather than stuffed with keywords.
Descriptions: aim for about 140–155 characters that summarise the page and give a reason to click. Google often shows its own snippet when it finds text that better matches the search, but a good description still wins clicks for your main keywords.
Social images: use an image of 1200 × 630 pixels for Open Graph so it displays well on every network. Social platforms cache previews, so after you fix tags, use each platform's sharing debugger to refresh the cached version.
Run the checker on your most important pages first: the home page, your main service or category pages and your best-performing blog posts. Then check new pages before you promote them. A missing share image or a forgotten noindex tag is much easier to fix before a campaign launches than after hundreds of people have seen a broken preview.
