What does the image resizer do?
Different places need images at different sizes. A product page might want 1200 × 1200 pixels, an exam form might ask for a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo under 50 KB, and a printer wants 300 DPI. This tool handles all of those in one place.
Enter a width, a height or both, and pick the unit. Pixels are for screens. Centimetres, millimetres and inches are for print, and they are converted to pixels using the DPI you choose: at 300 DPI, 1 inch becomes 300 pixels and 1 cm becomes about 118 pixels. The DPI value is saved inside the file so printing software knows the intended physical size.
You also choose how the image fits the new size. Keep proportions resizes without distortion, so the image fits inside the box you set. Crop to exact size fills the box completely and trims the edges. Stretch forces the exact dimensions and can make faces look wide or thin, so use it only for patterns or backgrounds. Add a maximum KB and the resized image is compressed until it fits.
Using the Image Resizer for your business
Product photos, Google Business Profile images and ad creatives all need different sizes. If you're resizing images every week for ads or listings, our Facebook and Instagram ads team handles creative sizing as part of campaign management, and our ecommerce SEO service keeps product images fast and consistent across your store.
How to use the Image Resizer
- Upload images. Add up to 10 JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF files by clicking, dragging or pasting.
- Enter the new size. Type a width and/or height. Leave one blank to keep the proportions automatically.
- Choose the unit and DPI. Use pixels for screens; for print, choose cm, mm or inches and set the DPI (300 is standard).
- Pick a fit mode and optional KB limit. Keep proportions, crop to fill or stretch, and add a maximum file size if a form requires one.
- Resize and download. Check the new dimensions under each preview and download one image or a ZIP.

Common image sizes worth knowing
Social media: Instagram feed posts work well at 1080 × 1080 (square) or 1080 × 1350 (portrait). Facebook and LinkedIn link images use 1200 × 630. YouTube thumbnails are 1280 × 720.
Websites: full-width hero images rarely need to be wider than 1920 pixels, blog images 1200 pixels, and thumbnails 400–600 pixels. Anything larger just slows the page down. Ecommerce platforms often recommend square product images of 1000–2048 pixels so zoom works without blur.
Print: 300 DPI is the standard for photo-quality printing. A 6 × 4 inch print therefore needs 1800 × 1200 pixels, and an A4 page about 2480 × 3508 pixels. If your image is smaller than that, printing it larger will look soft, because resizing up cannot add detail that was never captured.
Is it safe to upload my files?
Your files are processed on our own server, not sent to any third-party service, and are deleted automatically 30 minutes after processing. We strip location data from photos when converting them, and we never use your files for anything else.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image to a specific size in cm?
Choose cm as the unit, enter the width and height, set the DPI (300 for print) and click Resize.
How do I resize a photo to under 50 KB?
Enter 50 in the Max file size field. You can set dimensions too, or leave them blank to only reduce the file size.
Will resizing reduce quality?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger than the original can look soft, because no tool can invent missing detail.
What does DPI change?
DPI tells printers how many pixels to fit in each inch. It changes the physical print size, not how the image looks on screen.
Can I resize several images to the same size?
Yes. Upload up to 10 images and they'll all be resized with the same settings.
